« Sexocorporel » PROGRAM
Introduction
« Sexocorporel » has been developed at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM) by
Professor Jean-Yves Desjardins since the 70’s. It is based on precise clinical
observations including the latest scientific
knowledge, observations and experiences carried out among students in good
sexual health and studies of the body expression among healthy volunteers. It
relies on a concept of sexual health based on a global and integrative vision
of the different components of sexuality : identity, physiology,
intrapsychism (sexodynamics), cognition and relational aspect. This integration
takes place in the human body.
« Sexocorporel » enables the therapist and other persons working in domains linked to
human sexuality and any person interested in this knowledge to understand human
sexuality (including genitality) with efficient investigation and intervention
tools to improve or restore the sexuality of the patients who want it, or to
teach about it, for instance during sexual education classes.
This programme defines the different steps of the
training which are necessary to become a
ISI « Sexocorporel »
clinician sex therapist. The specific curriculae will be defined
later on in other domains such as sexual education.
The « Sexocorporel » training is divised
into three levels of study :
1st level : Basic studies in ISI
« Sexocorporel » clinical sex therapy
2nd level : Advanced
studies in ISI « Sexocorporel » clinical sex therapy
3rd level : Studies of
ISI « Sexocorporel » clinical sex therapist
Objectives of the
« Sexocorporel » training
Thanks to the clinical and scientific knowlege the
participants will have received in clinical sex therapy, they will be able to
widen their practice in this new domain. The complete
training gives access to the profession of ISI clinician sex therapist.
Regarding the first two sessions
of the 1st level (personal development) :
Any person working in domains linked to bio-psycho-social
professions (psychiatrist, doctor, physiotherapist, psychomotor therapist,
psychologist, urologist, gyneacologist, surgeon, specialized nurse, social
worker, marriage counselor) where one may meet persons or couples with sexual difficulties may apply
for the training.
Other professionals may be admitted by way of an
exception if they ask for (personal development), but they won’t get any
certification.
Regarding the clinical sessions
(3rd to 7th sessions) of the 1st level :
Any person who works in domains linked to
bio-psycho-socio-medical professions and and who has taken the first two
sessions and who would like to improve his/her knowledge in clinical sex
therapy with a recognized training and who wants to undergo the knowledge and
abilities which are necessary to the « Sexocorporel »
clinical practice may apply.
On particular requirement, other professionals may be
admitted by way of an exception, but then restrictions will be made regarding
the further professional practice.
Payment in case of absence to the
training
We expect at least 90 % of the hours of a level to be
paid. In case of force majeure (disease, accident), the attendee will be
allowed to make up the time he will have missed during another training.
Certification exams
They will be validated by two teachers, one of them
not being part of the local training.
